Balanced Diet: How To Start A Balanced Diet…

Posted by admin on 3rd March 2009

Food Pyramid

I’m sure most of you have heard about the Food Pyramid, it shows you the best way to start a balanced diet and keep a balanced for the rest of your life.

Q & A

Okay then, what do I do first?

By starting a balanced diet you are taking a big step in life, you have to break some bad habits. Like eating unhealthy snacks when your hungry, or having multiple deserts (I’m sure you can think up some unusual eating habits on your own). Give your self time to make the transition, have your parents start buying you healthy natural foods. That is what you do to start…

Do you have a schedule I can use? What should I eat at what times?

Okay I’ll start:

Breakfast:

Start your breakfast with energizing food, full of protein and Vitamin C. I suggest eggs (protein) you can make them anyway you like, for bread I suggest Toast and last but not least for a drink try milk (calcium)/orange juice(Vitamin C) (you probably have more then one glass of orange juice/milk, try them both; have one glass of milk and one glass of orange juice)

Time between Breakfast and Lunch:

Sometimes most people have a snack before lunchtime, try munching on some cheerios (your daily grains) or have vegetable/fruit something healthy.

Lunchtime:

For lunch were all normally at school, so I suggest when you pack your lunch you should take food items that will last through the entire school day. I normally have a tuna sandwich, with a banana (protein again). For a drink I have water, cool and refreshing…try something balanced and nutritional like that (I’m sure you can think of something).

Time between lunch and dinner:

If you’ve just come home from school and want another snack, try crackers with peanut butter (or cheese, you know something edible like that =D). For a drink to go with it try having some more milk.

Dinner:

Normally as teens were not in charge of dinner (mom or dad takes care of that), why not ask them to make a balanced meal? I would suggest you ask them to make a pasta dish, or a rice dish; something with plenty of grains. You could also suggest a meat/poultry dish (chicken, beef or ham). On the side you would want a vegetable group, try broccoli or cauliflower. For desert try dark chocolate (just plain dark chocolate, its good a very good for you), or try a fruit dish.

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

That’s the schedule I recommend, of course its normally you can’t keep a perfect schedule this is just an example. Try making up your own balanced meal schedule, stick to the Food Pyramid rules and you’ll be fine :D.

Resveratrol: Wait What’s Resveratrol?

Posted by admin on 23rd February 2009

Grapes full of Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a special nutrient that is normally found in red grapes. Grapes use Resveratrol to heal a bruise or a burn from the sun anything that damages the grape, it uses it so it may return back to normal form and shape.

Q & A

Ok great well it helps the grapes…but what has this to do with me and my health?

Well not only is Resveratrol found in grapes but it’s also found in animals. When an animal is starving, near death, Resveratrol is released throughout the animals body; Resveratrol keeps the animal from catching deadly diseases till it finds the proper food source. It keeps the animal alive! This also pertains to us, if we take Resveratrol as a supplement it will protect us from diseases-protecting us from every disease as a matter of fact!

Ok that’s cool, but is that all it can do for me?

No, that was just the beginning; there is so much more it can do. Resveratrol tricks your body into making every possible move to preserve your body as you get older, it boosts your defenses (protecting you from disease) and keeps you in top physical condition. In order for Resveratrol to work at it’s best you need a good diet; eating balanced meals and such. As I said before, it preserves your body as you get older and it helps you live healthier, longer. It also helps your brain-it keeps your mind clear and focused.

Wow, where can I get this and how do I take Resveratrol?

I suggest you take it in veggie capsule form:

Click the following link and you can get Resveratrol in veggie capsule form. It’s recommended that you take two a day, one in the morning and one at night: Eresveratrol.com

I’ve been taking Resveratrol for several months now and I’m enjoying it’s benefits, you know my mind is clear and focused :D. I enjoy it, my mind does not feel cluttered as it use to…how cool is that :D!! Now my mom is taking Resveratrol, and she is also enjoying its bountiful benefits!! She says it has helped her with her memory and her mind is clearer then it has been in a long while :D

Well that’s all for now, stay tuned for the next update :D

HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP IS NOT YOUR FRIEND: Part 4

Posted by admin on 26th January 2009

I just found some juicy info for you guys concerning High Fructose Corn Syrup, HFCS is officially banned from Europe.

HFCS BANNED

Yep banned, no product in Europe should by law contain HFCS. Ah Europe, that was a smart move. If only I could be there to try products that don’t contain HFCS, it would be a nice change since I have to eat smart everyday of my life here in America…

Its sad that we who live in America have to suffer with obesity, HFCS is such a big waste product. Why hasn’t it been banned here in America? It’s been proven that HFCS has big role to play in the obesity factor. Yet it’s still being used in everyday food products, which in turn causes us to remain overweight and unhealthy.

Keep trying to stay away from HFCS, keep trying to eat smart and daily exercise. You will benefit greatly doing so :D

Weight Losing Tips: First Step

Posted by admin on 12th January 2009

Check out the next update called Second Step

Now I had some difficulties when I was younger, I ate at Mcdonalds, Round Table and other fast food restaurants. But even then I was trying to eat the right things and I was gaining weight. I knew right then and there that something was totally wrong :(. I have through out the years taken steps to keep my body fat at a minimum level, so here are some tips for starters =D:

1. Stay away from Fast food restaurants if you can avoid it.

Hey I like to eat at fast food restaurants, I still do, but that’s because it tastes so good lol :D. I have a big family, I am one of four brothers and sisters. I am the oldest and eat the most, my brother and sister are thinner and eat less, sometimes I get frustrated because they can stay fit and it’s hard for me to. I found ways of getting away from the bad stuff at a fast food restaurant, take Mcdonalds for instance. I have been eating there for years and thanks to Mcdonalds I have a small gut to prove it lol. But when you gotta eat a place like that and it’s a MUST, then let’s face it, you can’t avoid it if it’s your only option :(. So I did some research their at my local Mcdonalds, I tested myself and their food to see what the cheese burgers and soft drinks would do to me…here’s what I found out and what techniques I use to keep myself from harm:

How to eat a cheese burger without gaining pounds:

Alright then, when I order a cheese burger the first thing that comes to my mind is aw man that has so many calories and fat, what’s causing all of the fat and calories? I examined my cheese burger, then I repeated the first word, cheese. Then it came to me, it’s processed cheese gross! So I took off all the cheese and I took a bite, it has a meaty flavor but it’s ok. I then took a ketchup pack, I was curious and read the ingredients, one of them was High Fructose Corn Syrup…I thought what’s that? I went on my dad’s computer and looked it up; I found out that it’s used in a process that replaces sugar. When I read further it says it has a role to play in the Obesity Factor, a problem America has been dealing with for some time now, since the 1980’s to be exact. Its super sweet and it increases the life time for our food (so it won’t spoil). Then I thought well great it’s preserving American food! But the deeper I got into what it is and what it does for your body the more I realized that it was one of the worst things to have in food! Small consumptions are ok, but then I remembered what that article said. Gosh what would happen to me if I got High Fructose Corn Syrup in almost everything I eat?..It struck me, so THAT’S what’s going, I am consuming an unhealthy amount of High Fructose Corn Syrup! I looked up another article, it mentioned that High Fructose Corn Syrup slows your body down, fills it up with unneeded body fat and it is linked with many health issues. After reading all that I looked at my bottle of Coca-Cola, I read the ingredients and found High Fructose Corn Syrup. I was shocked, it was in my soda! I was all the more curious and went back home with my family. When they heard about High Fructose Corn Syrup and what effects it had on the human body we went deep into all of our food and took a look at the labels. What a discovery we had that day! High Fructose Corn Syrup was in our cereal (like Coco Puffs and Coco Pebbles) in our Hienz ketchup, mayonnaise…IT’S IN OUR KETCHUP AND MAYONNAISE!? I have to find items that don’t carry High Fructose Corn Syrup!! My mom suggested we do a search.

Ok we did this search, we found places like Trader Joes and Bel Air (for those who do not have American Food Markets like Trader Joes and Bel Air do YOUR research and find those places that are healthy and let me know what the Markets are called, I’ll give you credit and post it if I can :D) that have quality tasting products with NO High Fructose Corn Syrup. I now like to eat their cereal, eggs and other tasty products that actually taste better without the High Fructose Corn Syrup…all that research and discoveries were only the beginning, it get’s even worse sadly :(. But to finish up, I now get burgers without the cheese and ketchup and it has a really good taste still even without cheese and ketchup( pickles and onions are fine so don’t worry about those it just depends on their brine lol). Instead of soda I get a water, I can take a lemon and squeeze the tasty flavor in the water if I need to, I avoid products their with High Fructose Corn Syrup and make the best of it. I saw results in a few months by staying away from High Fructose Corn Syrup system and was feeling a little better :D. But this is one of many steps, stay posted and I will post more :D!

Weight Losing Tips: Fifth Step

Posted by admin on 12th January 2009

Check out the next update called Sixth Step

Drink plenty of water.

WATER, LOT’S of water :D. Water is one of the bases of life, water keeps you moving, keeps you healthy and strong, cleanses your body of impurities, helps fight the common cold and sooo much more :D.

But what else can it do for those who are over weight or unhealthy? Well I drink (at least) eight ounces daily, sometimes I personally drink more since I am a bigger person and need much more water :D. When I started drinking eight cups daily I heard it from my mom who heard it from my uncle (ROFL long story) and my mom said he was losing weight. He originally had a small gut but when he drank the right amount of water he cleansed his body from extra fat. Intrigued by what my mom said I decided to drink the the recommended amount of water. I had at least 3 inches of flab around my was pretty sad and wanted SOMETHING to help me with my weight problem, when I started drinking 8 ounces of water a day I noticed results within a month! I (finally) could walk around my neighborhood without getting tired, I could fit in a pair of jeans or shorts without feeling embarrassed that my sides would stick out to far. It was and still is a wonderful experience…

Then when I wanted to learn more about what it could do for me I looked up the human body benefits from water on Google…and the following I am quoting is from Hdor Chester Health.org:

* Water helps regulate our body temperature through perspiration, which dissipates excess heat & cools our bodies.

* We even need water to breathe! As we take in oxygen & excrete CO2, our lungs must be moistened by water. We lose about 1 to 2 pints of water each day just exhaling.

* Asthma is frequently relieved when water intake is increased. Histamine plays a key role in regulating the way the body uses & distributes water & helps control the body’ s defense mechanisms. In asthmatics, histamine level increases with dehydration. Our defense for the body is to close down the airways.

* The kidneys remove wastes such as uric aced, urea & lactic acid, all of which must be dissolved in water. When there isn’t sufficient water, those wastes are not effectively removed, which may result in damage to the kidneys.

* Water lubricates our joints. The cartilage tissues found at the ends of long bones & between the vertebrae of the spine hold a lot of water, which serves as a lubricant during the movement of the joint. When the cartilage is will hydrated, the two opposing surfaces glide freely, & friction damage is minimal. If the cartilage is dehydrated, the rate of “abrasive” damage is increased, resulting in joint deterioration & increased pain.

* The actively growing blood cells in the bone marrow take priority over the cartilage for the available water that goes through the bone structure.

* Rheumatoid joint pain frequently decreases with increased water intake & flexing exercises to bring more circulation to the joints.

* 75% of the upper body weight is supported by the water volume that is stored in the spinal disc core. 25% is supported by the fibrous materials around the disc. The spinal joints are dependent on different hydraulic properties of water which is stored in the disc core. Back pain is frequently alleviated with hydration.

* Brain tissue is 85% water. Although the brain is only 1/50th of the body weight, it uses 1/20th of the blood supply. With dehydration, the level of energy generation in the brain is decreased. Depression & chronic fatigue syndrome are frequently results of dehydration.

* Migraine headaches may be an indicator of critical body temperature regulation at times of “heat stress.” Dehydration plays a major role in bringing on migraines. Dehydration causes stress & stress causes further dehydration.

Wow :D that’s why it is so good to drink plenty of water, think of the benefit’s, if you do this you will change your life in a GOOD way :D, take it from me drink plenty of water, take a water bottle/container where ever you go so you gain wonderful benefits :D

Stay posted for the next step tomorrow…=D
